Why Everyday Vows??

Colby and I have been talking for years about what life looks like post 2013. You see, we experienced one of the hardest seasons of marriage anyone could walk through. It would have been pretty easy during that time to just give up, walk out, and call it quits. It was too hard to fight. It was too hard to persist. It was too hard to keep on walking, day after day, through hardships and pain.

But we did. We both walked. Through it all. Through the pain. Through the hardships. Through the financial distress. Through the unbearable. And through it all, God was faithful.

And now, 5 years later, we want to continue to walk faithfully in what God has called us to: to encourage others with the truth of the gospel.

Through our experiences with marriage (I plan weddings and hear the weddings vows spoken almost every weekend and Colby is a pastor and walks with couples through the highs and lows of marriage), we want to use our experiences, our passions, and our life story to encourage you with three things:

  1. To remind you that vows are meant to be lived daily.
  2. To challenge you to not give up when things get hard.
  3. To encourage you to fight for your marriage.

This project has been a long time coming. We’ve been talking about it for years, and our goal was to launch it in May. We have had a few set-backs, but now it is officially time! See below at a look of my May Goals in blue pen in the middle: “Secret Goal: Everyday Vows.” I always hid Everyday Vows with my pen when I shared about my goals. It just wasn’t ready to be public yet! But now it is!

What I love most about Everyday Vows, is that it actually has NOTHING to do with Colby and I. We are going to be consistently sharing stories of people that have lived out their vows daily. When you are walking through a battle, it can feel so isolating and lonely, and that is exactly where the enemy wants you. But our hope is that through sharing these stories, you realize that you are not alone. There have been couples that have walked where you are walking and they came out on the other side of it. Our prayer is that this offers hope and encouragement to your marriage, whether you have been married for 1 year, 7 years, 12 years, 22 years, 37 years, 43 years, or more!

We are so excited to start this new journey with you!
