Story #7: “For Richer, For Poorer” – Dirk and Robin Meadows

Today, we get to share part of Dirk and Robin’s story with you. They have been married for 45 years this year and we are blessed to be able to impart some of their wisdom today:

When we were the starry-eyed young couple standing at the altar saying these vows to one another, little did we know the true depth of these statements. For it is in the living that the learning comes.

In 2019, we will celebrate our 45th year of marriage! These years have brought us seven children, building our own home, 35 years of home education,19 grandchildren, countless friends…the list could go on.

We are rich! Wealth and richness is made from regular small deposits being made over time. Small deposits of love, and always forgiveness. Small deposits of faitfulness in choosing each other every day. Small deposits of caring, of going through hard things together, of laughing

until our bellies ache and crying together with broken hearts. Small, regular deposits of weekly serving at church together, of reading our Bible together and praying for one another.

All these small, daily choices add up to great and abundant wealth—a richness and heritage that is lasting and can never be taken away. Yet, we still believe the best is yet to come! “The meadows are covered with flocks, and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.” Ps. 65:13
